10 years of Teaming at PortAventura World
On March 22th, within the Welcome Forum for the Company's employees, the PortAventura Foundation delivered the money raised in the Teaming'17 to the two projects chosen by the Employees. This donation was the best way to commemorate the 10 years of this charity initiative in PortAventura.
In the 2017 edition of the Teaming, € 13,515 was raised, between the money contributed by the Employees and the contribution of the Foundation. This amount was shared equally between the two entities most voted by the Employees themselves: the SAMS Association and the El Somni dels Nens Foundation. Ramon Marsal, president of the Foundation, was in charge of delivering the symbolic check to the representatives of both associations.
In her speech of thanks, the representative of SAMS and head of the Pediatric Arrhythmia Unit of the Hospital Sant Joan de Deu, Georgia Sarquella-Brugada, encouraged the employees of PortAventura World to join to continue collaborating with the project of micro-donations Teaming. Georgina Sarquella-Brugada stressed that in initiatives of this type "the constancy of a drop is more valuable than the strength of a wave".
Solidarity drop by drop
During these 10 years of Teaming in PortAventura € 145,314 has been donated to 18 entities chosen by the Employees of PortAventura World. All these entities have a common goal: the improvement of society, directly helping children, adolescents and their families. The Fundació PortAventura collaborates in this project contributing € 2 for every € 1 donated by the Employees.
The two projects of 2017
The SAMS Association is dedicated to patients and family members with arrhythmic syndromes related to sudden death. Currently in Spain there are 30,000 cases of sudden death per year. The donation will be used to research these diseases.
“El Somni dels Nens” Foundation will dedicate the donation to its "Humanization of Pediatric Environments" project of the Pediatric Emergency Unit of the Joan XXIII Hospital of Tarragona. This initiative aims to reduce the stress level of the child and his family during their hospitalization, by creating an adequate therapeutic environment. Its great impact on the recovery capacity of patients, as well as on the state of mind of the children, their relatives and even the medical staff that attends them, has been proven by several international studies.
