Sant Joan de Déu is ready to play with the new PortAventura World themed children’s area

La Fundació PortAventura and Sant Joan de Déu Hospital have gone a step further in the collaboration agreement they signed at the end of 2014 with the opening of a new playground. This area is designed to make the recovery process a more positive experience for the children admitted to this hospital.

The new playground surrounds two of the hospital buildings, creating a leisure area divided into three sections: Mediterrània, Polynesia and China, inspired by some of PortAventura Park’s theme areas and starring the park mascot, Woody. This new outdoor area accompanies the figures of Sesame Street characters that have featured inside the hospital since 2015. 

This collaboration will culminate in 2017 with the opening of the new Paediatric ICU in Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, funded by La Fundació PortAventura.   

These facilities will constitute a benchmark in Europe and with this new development the available surface area will increase fourfold. It will have spacious rooms, equipped with the latest technology and adapted so that parents can be with their children 24 hours a day.
