Charity Day “Posa’t la gorra”
10,000 people have "Put on their Cap!" At PortAventura WORLD in solidarity with children and young people with cancer and their families.
On Sunday the Association for Children with Cancer (AFANOC) joined forces with the PortAventura Foundation for the 14th edition of "Ponte la Gorra".
10,000 attendees, many of whom return year after year, demonstrated incredible support for the campaign and event that is one of the highlights in the Tarragona calendar.
It was a hot, sunny day but the heat didn't stop everyone from taking part in the activities and workshops organised by AFANOC in the main square in the China area, where actors Manuel Piñeiro and Anna Bertran took to the main stage as presenters.
In the defining moment of the event, children affected by the disease were invited onto the stage to read the "AFANOC Manifesto" together with institutional representatives and members of the association's board.
This year's cap was designed by Roser Capdevila and depicts a flock of sheep dancing, playing, reading ... Enjoying the good things in life!
The money raised will be used to fund services available in the region of Tarragona; new projects to improve the La Casa de los Xuklis which provides respite for all families that have to travel from their home towns for treatment in major Barcelona hospitals and has helped more than 700 families over the last 5 years.
The Association wishes to express its satisfaction with the positive results of the campaign and thank everyone who contributed to its great success.
