Gluten Free Day
On Saturday the 10th of June, around 4500 guests attended PORTAVENTURA’s 4th 'Gluten-Free Day’, aimed at integrating people affected by celiac disease and at raising awareness about this intolerance.
For this occasion, sponsored by the Celiacs Association of Catalonia with the support of the PORTAVENTURA Foundation, two self-service restaurants in the theme park served only gluten-free products: 'The Old Steak House', in the area of Far West, and 'Bora Bora', in Polynesia, in addition to the gluten-free range of ice creams and yoghurts offered by the establishments in the areas of Far West, Mediterrània and México.
The ‘Gluten-Free Day’ is an event for the celiac association members and their relatives during which, with a special price for entry, they can enjoy as a family the entertainment on offer safe in the knowledge that gluten-free menus and products are available.
Chaired by Olga Cuesta the Associació de Celíacs de Catalunya has a total of 10,000 members and 7400 associated family members, and launched this event for the first time in 2013.
PORTAVENTURA Resort strives to offer a range of foods for people with celiac disease, and has also published the guide 'Where to eat' containing full details of the park’s food and beverage facilities, table service, self-service and hotel restaurants where gluten-free products are available.
